Clearing the Inner Clutter – Worry Part Two
By Ling
Clearing inner clutter, especially ‘worry clutter’ is an ongoing process that takes some dedication and focus. At the end of the last post, I gave a small suggestion for clearing away some inner worry clutter by jotting down a few recurring ‘thought nags’ that just aren’t contributing much and replacing them with more productive thoughts.
If you’re having trouble getting started with this, here are a few I wrote down that might help you initiate the process:
Worry statement: worried about creating more immediate cash flow
Replacement thought: I am taking positive action each day to create more cash flow in my life. Then I visualize this growing stronger, like a river gaining strength with more trickles and streams added into the flow.
Worry statement: worried about my sister’s health…she has lost weight and is working long stressful hours.
Replacement thought: My sister is a survivor and will endure. She is now making it a priority to slow down a bit and get more rest. I encourage and support her on every level to do this.
Worry statement: worried that I don’t have enough time to get everything done in a day that I want to accomplish.
Replacement thought: I am a productive person who is doing the best she can with the resources available right now. Patience and perseverance win the day.
One way to strengthen replacement thoughts is to take action by doing some simple Feng Shui by following the Bagua map.
For example, if you also have cash flow worries, take action to strengthen the wealth corners of each room in your home, starting with the space that is home to the wealth region of the Bagua. For an introduction to the Bagua map, refer to this article. Even though this article focuses mainly on Feng Shui fountains for wealth and career success, there is information on the importance of the five elements and the Bagua further in.
Another example, if you are worried about negative influences on your children from fellow classmates, or a teacher that is giving your child a hard time, instead of focusing on the worst case scenario, replace this worry with a positive outcome thought. See the situation as a blessing in disguise, which is often the case in life.
You may still have to intervene on behalf of your child, but at least you have taken strides to keep your own personal thoughts about the situation more positive. To help the situation in terms of Feng Shui, first identify the where Family region and the Children and Creativity regions of your home are located.
Once you have identified these regions, performing a simple cure like adding a bit of color that the Bagua map indicates for the region can be helpful. Do what is easiest and has the most meaning for you personally.
When performing any Feng Shui enhancement (known as ‘cure’)…for best results always visualize the positive change you are looking to establish with your action.

Clearing the Inner Clutter – Worry
By Ling
Have you thought about what it means to have “inner clutter”? What exactly does this mean?
When most people think of clutter, they think of the ‘stuff’ that surrounds them that really shouldn’t be there, wouldn’t you agree? The stuff that has no real place of its own. You know…the piles of paper the get stacked up with the best of intentions…”yes, I’ll just stack these here for the moment and organize later”.
But often, later never comes…for at least six months or so!
Or maybe what comes to mind is the stuff piled up in a basement corner you’ve been meaning to sort through, someday.
Yes, this is part of the physical clutter that many of us still need to address, but what about the ‘inner’ clutter? I’ve labeled this post part one because I wanted to talk about the different aspects of inner or mental clutter as separate topics…break them down into chewable chunks, basically.
Many Feng Shui experts agree, if you are surrounded by physical clutter, you also have inner clutter that is dragging you down and taking away from the quality of your life.
I’d like to share little story. My grandmother couldn’t stand the sight of dandelions in her yard, every spring. To her, the dandelions were absolute weed clutter and had to go.
Even though the dandelions appeared for only a short while and then were mowed under by the mower eventually…it didn’t matter.
She was obsessed. She had to get rid of these dandelions…she fretted and worried about them and even went to the extent of taking out a hoe, going out and chopping them down, one by one!
What did this activity accomplish? Well…it eased her mind to some extent, and took away her worry of the dandelions for a short while. But they always came back, every spring! It didn’t matter how many she successful beheaded the spring before, up they always came back the following spring.
So all this worry and fretting wasn’t all that productive, was it? It didn’t do much to add to her quality of life, or the lives of those around her, did it?
Are you plagued by constant worries? Are these worries detracting from your quality of life? Did you know that worrying is a form of inner clutter?
Can you remember exactly what you were worrying about, 365 days ago? How about 180 days ago? Worrying accomplishes basically nothing positive. When we worry, we manufacture thoughts that get placed on a treadmill that runs on and on and on…going nowhere.
It leaves our heads spinning…taking away precious focus from other more important goals and from having more productive thoughts.
We continue to cycle these thoughts through our minds…have you noticed?
It’s not easy to break out of the ‘worry thoughts’ treadmill. But it is something worth striving for, definitely. Believe me when I tell you, I’m writing this as much for myself as I am for you!
Here’s what’s possible. When you catch yourself worrying about something, interrupt yourself in some way. Really try to be conscious of worrisome thoughts as you’re having them.
When you notice worry happening, make a point to shift your thinking to an outcome you want, instead of staying in the negative mental worry place. The law of attraction works for us or against us, when it comes to this.
You may even want to jot down some of your more common worries…ones that you notice are continually cycling through your mind. This is the first step in clearing out the inner clutter of worry.
First you have to recognize it, identify it, and then make a conscious effort to stop and choose more positive thoughts, instead.
I’m going to take my own advice and write down my most common worries, and then write down positive thoughts that can take the place of these worries every time I catch myself thinking them.
Will you join me in this inner clutter clearing exercise? Are you ready to become more worry free?
