How to Feng Shui Away the H1N1 Virus—Building Your Health for
Longevity Part One
Feng Shui Away the H1N1 Virus – Brief
Introduction:
I’m breaking this into two parts, as the
recent H1N1 virus outbreak and scare is a major concern for
people all over the world.
My personal philosophy of Feng Shui is a
wholistic one. Living a Feng Shui lifestyle and having a Feng
Shui mindset includes doing the right things for yourself so
that you stay healthy for all of your life!
So in addition to writing articles and
producing content that has to do directly with Feng Shui
enhancements to your immediate living spaces, I want to
continue to share information on this website that will help
you with your “inner” Feng Shui, which includes building a
strong foundation for great health…for
life!
I
invite you now to vastly broaden your idea of what Feng Shui
is, as the broader mindset most definitely includes the
physical, emotional and spiritual you.
Author Karen Kingston who
wrote “Clear Your
Clutter with FENG SHUI” speaks of clutter clearing your
body for greater health benefits.
I’ll be writing articles in the future on
clutter clearing for the mind…but for now, please enjoy and
benefit from this article on “How to Feng Shui Away the H1N1
Virus—Building Your Health for Longevity.”
Steps You Can Take Every Day to Lower
Your Risk
Here are some quick reminders of what you can
do to lower your risk of infection, and good habits to develop
overall!
- If you visit the Center for Disease
Control website, you’ll see
that consistently
washing your hands is an important
preventative. Try to make it a habit at
work to wash your hands frequently with warm water
and soap. This goes for any outing, especially if you
have to visit a health clinic or hospital. When you
go shopping at the grocery, for example, you’ll come
into contact with shopping cart handles. Make sure to
wash your hands as soon as you get
home.
- Consciously keep your hands away from
your face. This is where you are most
vulnerable to contracting this flu or any type of flu.
Contacting door knobs or countertops in stores, and then
touching your mouth or nose is an easy thing to do, without
thinking much about it. Try to consciously keep your hands
away from your face, especially outside your own
home.
- Get the proper amount of
sleep. When
you’re run down, you’re going to automatically be more
susceptible to contracting viruses. This is another area
where being consistent pays huge dividends, not only during
the flu season but for the long term. I realize this is
easier said than done for many people, especially those who
suffer from insomnia.
Here are some ideas that could help you get a
good night’s sleep:
- Sleep in total
darkness. Even with a small bit of light
coming in, this can interrupt a good night’s sleep or
make it more difficult to get to sleep. Cover your
windows completely, or if that isn’t feasible get a
comfortable sleep mask. Our bodies produce a hormone
called melatonin, which helps our bodies get the sleep
we need.
- Cover any mirrors in your
bedroom. In Feng Shui, mirrors should be
used sparingly in the bedroom, but if they are present,
a cure for this is to cover your mirrors before bed.
Mirrors are disruptive to sleep, and can cause
confusion at an energetic level, so best to cover them
attractively.
- Listen to relaxing music or nature
CD’s. Calming ocean sounds…sounds of
water moving or soothing gentle music can work wonders.
At the time of this writing, we have a special CD
program on order called “The Delta
Sleep Solution” by Dr. Jeffrey Thompson. If
you suffer from bouts of insomnia like I do, you may
be interested in testing out this special program
that Dr. Thompson has designed for non-sleepers like
us!
- Go to bed early and rise with the
sun. There’s Benjamin Franklin’s old
adage…”early to bed and early to rise makes a man
healthy, wealthy and wise!” In the days of kerosene
lamps and candles, people would normally go to bed not
long after the sun went down. Years of evolution has
designed us to retire early…not long after the sun
sets!
